Welcome To Lovely Conspiracy...

This is the Autumn version. I hope that you like it. Navigation is above, and to the left. Don't forget to leave a comment before you leave!

Autumn is...crisp air, falling leaves, sweaters, a pallette of colors, crunchy ground, school books, jackets, turkey dinner, apple cider, raking leaves, giving thanks...

a solution to the problem…

Posted By jesi on November 5, 2008

I have been notified that this layout is indeed viewable in Firefox, which makes me majorly happy. So, obviously, I have a fall/autumny theme on here. I now have to begin searching for a Christmas theme that is compatible with Firefox, because this theme is staying up until December. However, since I honestly don’t have anything to write about…I’m going to do a meme!

Ten Things I Love Talking About
So I am supposed to post a list of ten things that I love talking about, it came from here.
1. My High School’s Football and Basketball teams
2. Fashion and Fashion History
3. Food
4. Myself…But Who doesn’t?
5. Sleep
6. Interior Design
7. Politics
8. My Puppy

UGH! I can’t think of ten things…it’s horrible. The only person that I talk to is my dog, and he only likes it when I talk about food…especially giving him some. I need to be more sociable! Any tips on how I can do this?!

I have added the CommentMailer plugin…and I will be replying to comments as soon as I figure out how it works.

houston, we have a problem…

Posted By jesi on November 4, 2008

If you have visited my site before and you are using Firefox, you probably can only see the text and not the layout. I have no idea why this is happening. I don’t have any experience with Firefox…none of the computers that I use have Firefox as an option for a web browser. I know that several of you Firefox devotees view Internet Explorer as evil, and I apologize for this fact…the fact that you cannot see my layout. I am considering skinning the site…in hopes that one of the layouts will be compatible with Firefox, as I don’t know what else to do. So if you are using Firefox, and you have been here before, could you view any of my previous layouts? Also, I ask that you please be patient with me while I straighten this mess out.

In other news, I have been working on adding pages to the site, and I am also currently looking for affiliates, link exchanges, etc. If interested, let me know in the comments.

We won our first round playoff game on Saturday…you can check out the complete details here. We play the Carterville Lions next week. Unfortunately, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it since my Mom has been laid off since the 21st of last month. She has filed for unemployment, and we are hoping that she gets it or she gets called back to work.

Also, a friend of mine Kimmy is staying with my Mom and I, along with her boyfriend Clint. I absolutely adore her…but I am still not 100% about him. A part of me says that he isn’t what he appears to be…if that makes any sense.

Finally, I am planning on uploading a picture to go into the little white box to the -right-> but I keep forgetting. I also need to do the comment-mailer plugin - much thanks to Julie for telling me where to find it.

looking on the bright side of things

Posted By jesi on October 29, 2008

I know that I was supposed to keep the ‘Pink for October’ layout up until the end of the month, but looking at the pink and being reminded every single time I logged on to work on the site, reminded me of things that I don’t like to be reminded of every single day. I know that is the whole purpose of the ‘Pink for October’ movement, and I’m glad of it. I just couldn’t deal with some of the memories of it. Besides that, my Aunt Patti always told us - my cousins Angela and Nicole and I - to always look on the bright side of things…and I believe that doing that is a better memorial of her memory.

So I obviously put up a new layout, and I have basically mastered how the links work. *Dances around room* Now, all I need to do is to figure out why my Gravatar image isn’t showing up, write my pages, and reply to all my comments. I am hoping to get all of this straightened out soon.

In other news, my hometown’s high school football team is in the playoffs for the 24th straight year. It’s one of the longest streaks in the state, and we have a home playoff game on Saturday. I’m so excited and I can’t wait! I’m so glad that I visited the vampires -not real ones, continue reading - to get some money!

On Monday, I went to donate plasma (ie. visit the vampires), so that I could have the money to go to the football game on Saturday. I honestly don’t know why I did…because for some reason, everytime I donate I almost pass out. It’s horrible because I used to donate before, and I had no side effects. I don’t understand what’s going on…the only thing that’s different is that I live in a different town and I’m on birth control, plus they have new machines. However, they said that the birth control should not affect it any…so I’m thinking that it’s the new machines. I’ll have to talk to them the next time that I go…if Mom allows me to do it again.

Nothing Sounds Right

Posted By jesi on October 19, 2008

I’ve been trying to write an About Me page for the past week or so, and just when I think that I have it, I make the mistake of reading it out loud and something always seems to be wrong with it. I have the same problem with introducing myself in real life but I think it is because I want people to get to know me as an indidual, and not just another face in the crowd. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you make yourself stand out from the crowd?

Since we’re on the site and its lack of updates, I’m really wanted to change this layout to a nonpink one. Don’t get me wrong - I love the color pink and breast cancer research is a major issue of mine…but it also reminds me of my favorite aunt who died from breast cancer, the fact that my mom’s had breast cancer and still has the scar, plus the fact that I’ve already had three mammograms due to both of these facts, and you aren’t supposed to have regular ones until you’re 40s. However, the layout (theme) will remain up until the end of the month, and then I think I’m going to put up a fall theme.

Commenting is something that I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about - both as a blogger and as an occasional site commentee(?) - mainly how I can get across my thoughts in a few, short sentences without offending anyone-especially the person who wrote the entry. The problem with commenting, at least with me, is that a lot of what I say (or don’t say) is communicated via my face or body. I do a lot of talking with my hands. So I end up saying/typing something that some people might take the wrong way - and if I do this with you, please ask me to clarify. By the way, this isn’t to any one person…just to everyone in general. But my question is this - how do you avoid this problem when posting comments?

Also, I’ve noticed that a lot of people send emails for their comment replies - which I need to start doing - is it a plugin? If so, which one and where can I find it? Plus, are there any other plugins I need to add?

I’m absolute loving the new Britney Spears video, which you can watch here. What do you think of it? Is it on the same level as previous Britney videos? Better? Worst?

On November 4th, I’ll be voting for Barack Obama so I was majorly excited when the Perry County Dems began setting up their office in my hometown. I just had to go in and get an Obama/Biden sign for the yard. Who are y’all voting for - if you don’t mind saying so, and why?

Well, that’s it for this entry. I hope that I didn’t bore you so bad that you won’t come back…but I’ve got to go make a general nuisance of myself - the only true thing I’m good at. I hope everyone’s having a great weekend!

Life’s Sometimes Like That

Posted By jesi on October 15, 2008

I’ve decided that I need to set up some goals in post per week or something like that…because if I only blog when I have something to write about, I might as well just delete the site. This is definitely not something I want to do especially since I’ve actually had people comment on the site.

I am wanting to do the pay per post thing, and some other things to make some money. Because as most of us, if not all, know the economy…to put it bluntly is a freak of nature in that it both sucks and blows at the same time. But the email that I’ve received said that my GooglePR wasn’t high enough, and that I didn’t have enough indexed pages. I am presuming that indexed pages are the total number of site pages - if this is wrong, please tell me - which will be easy to bring up, I just need to stop being so lazy and do it. The GooglePR is a different story…as I know absolutely nothing about it. Any information would be appreciated.

I have five or six blogs that I read on a semi-regular basis - they’re on my blogroll to the right - because (a) they always make me think or (b) instinct tells me that they are genuinely nice, good people. Imagine my surprise and excitement when I noticed that Tai of Lust Doll had placed a link to my site! I felt like screaming in joy - which I couldn’t because I’m using a computer at the public library. But all of you should go visit her today!

Let’s see…offline, I have found my cell phone but now the charger’s missing. I’m in the process of cleaning my room - the semi-annual cleaning - to hopefully find it, but I might just break down and buy a new one. I’m worried that if I don’t get a charge to it soon, that I’ll lose my pictures. Some of them are majorly cute in my opinion.

The Pink Card thing is still driving me crazy. I got $9 off of my uncle to get my birth control pills for this month, and I was on the pay phone for almost two hours on Monday…only to be told that I have to reapply because there was an administrative error and they lost my application and birth certificate. I was so pissed! Now I have to go over to Pinckneyville to get yet another copy of my birth certificate. GR. Why does everything to with the government have to be so difficult?!

My allergies are driving me crazy. I swear that the only time that I can breathe properly is when it’s freezing cold outside or raining. I hate it! Of course, the weather while it’s nice…doesn’t help any. It was 95° on Sunday…and it’s the middle of October. It makes me dread the upcoming winter.

Well, I’m going to do an online scholarship search, so that I can hopefully go back to college soon. Hope that everyone has a nice day!

to a minimum…

Posted By jesi on October 12, 2008

I had told myself from the beginning that I was going to keep the random, rambling posts to a minimum…but I’ve also told myself that I was going to write at least 3 posts a week. So it looks like I’ve broken both my promises to myself regarding the site. The truth of the matter is that I haven’t really been in the mood to write anything…well, except for a poem called Disney Lies which you can read here. In other completely random news, I’ve figured out how to link pages…which means that I’ll be uploading at least one or two pages each time that I log on.

So my 28th birthday was last Saturday, and I’m seriously kicking myself because I should’ve taken a picture of my birthday cake. It was so pretty! Chocolate cake with pink icing writing…yummy! Also, I got a pink Nintendo DS Lite for my birthday…with the Brain Age game and a Nancy Drew game. I’m already losing interest in the Nancy Drew game…Brain Age is a different story.

friday fun: the fours edition

Name 4…

1. Places you would like to visit and why.

  • Washington, DC in the Spring - It’s the capitol of the United States, the center of democracy. I feel that every person should visit the center of their country’s government.
  • New York City during the Holidays - Christmas Tree. Enough Said.
  • Paris, France - I’m obsessed with France. I love absolutely anything to do with France, but especially the Eiffel Tower.
  • Chicago, IL - It’s the biggest city in my home state, only 8 hours away by train, and I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve never been there.

2. Favorite things to munch on!

  • Oreos
  • Grapes and Peanuts
  • Carrot Sticks with Ranch Dip
  • Chocolate Chips with Whipped Cream

3. Favorite sites for online shopping.

4. Things you have to get done this weekend.

  • Find my cell phone, so I can upload pictures to MySpace and Facebook.
  • Watch the Homecoming Football game!
  • Figure out how to add links to Wordpress pages.
  • Have a “Happy Birthday!”

5. Things that pop up when you google your name.
Note: I only googled my first name of Jessica.

  • jessica simpson
  • jessica alba
  • jessica cosmetics
  • an article on wikipedia

Well, this was my first meme. I hope that you enjoyed it.

Pink for October

Posted By jesi on October 3, 2008

As you can obviously tell, Lovely Conspiracy has joined the Pink for October movement. You can read more about it by clicking here.

Also, I’ve added the Girl page…but I still have to figure out how to do links on Wordpress. I’m hoping to have that particular section done within the next week or two.

In other site news, I’m considering skinning the site - at least that’s what I think it’s called. Should I?

In more personal news, I am really irritated because I have not yet received my Pink Card - for those of you who don’t live in the fine state of Illinois, it’s a card that pays for birth control, etc. This means that I have to pay for my birth control out of pocket again…I should have received the card back in August. So, now I have to reapply and probably won’t receive a new card until November or December.

Also, I accidentally deleted the previous entry by the same name, so if you commented on it…I am so sorry.

Finally, does anyone know where I can find the tutorial to add the emoticons to the comments? Thanks!

at september’s end…

Posted By jesi on September 30, 2008

I begin to think of how my life has developed over the past year, and then today I received this quote in my email:

The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.
— Allan K. Chalmers

It got me to thinking about what I want the most out of life - which is to be happy. So here’s what I’m thinking…it says that in order to be happy, you need something to do. I think that this something to do should be something that makes you happy in the process of doing. The thing that I love the most in the whole entire world is writing. I love to write! Lately, however, I’ve been experiencing major writing blocks. I can’t seem to write much of anything…well..except for an occasional entry or two. So my questions are:

  1. What do you do when you want to write but you can’t seem to find the words?
  2. What are some of the things that you need to be your best when writing?

I guess that’s it for now…I’m hoping to put up some more interesting entries soon…but my life’s pretty boring. Sorry.
